No contact works when you stop using it as bait
I used to think silence meant I just had to wait.
Give them space
Let them come back
Don’t be “too much”
Don’t mess it up
So I sat there, basically in limbo, clinging to a version of someone that didn’t even exist anymore. Telling myself stories about “what it could be” instead of dealing with what it was.
Eventually I realized: silence is an answer.
It’s not mysterious
It’s not complicated
It’s not deep
They’re either in or they’re not. And not showing up is a choice.
Once I stopped filling in the blanks with hope, everything changed.
Now my rule is simple:
- if you stop replying, I stop investing
- if I have to guess, I’m out
- if you disappear, I believe you
- if I feel crazy, I check the facts
- if it hurts early, I don’t stick around to “see”
No contact isn’t punishment. It’s peace.
It’s not to get them back - it’s to get yourself back.
And weirdly, the less noise I made, the faster I saw who was real.
The stuff I read from NoMixedSignals finally made it click - you don’t lose someone who leaves, you lose the illusion they were staying.
Now I don’t chase. I just notice.
Your self-worth shows up fastest when you stop negotiating it.
