Thank you to everyone who responded with kindness TW maybe? Waking up
My system didnt speak to other humans beyond yes and no, a handful of times, until I was nearly 7 1/2 years old. I didnt have kids my own age to talk to either. (Not going into abuse here but just an fyi) I am literally building my way out.
Ive been locked inside my system until nearly my early 40's. I woke up 2 years ago trying to instill small moments of awareness.
I was diagnosed at about 8 with DID and was in a treatment center for 14 months. More many years after until 15.
My system has always been mostly its only keeper and safe space.
I am trying to let it speak and find its way "out." We are working hard to connect to others. Its proving very difficult and disheartening.
We are trying to connect in the only way we know how.
This year I have been from WA, to CO back to MT bc of my system. I have driven cross country twice alone with my kitties hijacked.
I am very tired. In therapy. 5th therapist this year due to all the moving.
The one on CO, 8 months ago made us believe it finally bc our brain went offline and shut down when comforted.
I come from 10+ years of therapy. Everyone knew I had this but i would never accept anything that made me feel broken or weak. Unfortunately, in my late 30's I couldn't run anymore. The amnesia became too bad and the switching.
Just about me if that helps any.
