If You Could Heal Others by Yelling “Excelsior!” (But Took On Their Illness Yourself)

You wake up one day with a strange power: if you touch someone and shout “Excelsior!”, every illness, injury, or chronic condition they have is instantly removed… and transferred fully to you instead. Their body is left completely healthy, but you now carry everything they had, with all the normal medical consequences and risks that would apply. If they had terminal cancer, you now have that cancer. If they were blind, you are now blind. If they had a broken arm and diabetes, you now have a broken arm and diabetes. There is no way to split or dilute conditions between multiple people; it’s a one-to-one transfer every time.

A few more rules for the scenario:

• Your power always works if you willingly activate it with touch + “Excelsior!”, and you can’t partially heal someone. It’s all or nothing every time.
• The transfer is permanent unless modern medicine could realistically cure or manage that condition for you. If it’s lifelong in real life, it’s lifelong for you unless treatable in normal ways.
• Your body can accumulate conditions. You could end up with dozens of chronic illnesses at once, and your overall life expectancy, pain, and disability scale realistically with what you’ve taken on.
• You can’t give conditions away to anyone else, and you can’t heal yourself with this power.
• The power only works on humans

How do you live your life with this ability? Do you use it rarely, only for people you deeply love in extreme situations? Do you try to monetize it by charging the ultra-rich to take on their illnesses, knowing you’re spending your own lifespan as currency? Do you set up a kind of “illness martyr” foundation and let people nominate who is most “worthy” to be healed, or do you work with hospitals and triage cases? Would you try to carefully optimize which conditions you take (for example, curable or manageable ones only), or would you eventually sacrifice yourself to clear out a children’s cancer ward?
