I’ve become a believer.

Hey all, I’m 22M. Growing up I’ve obviously heard of the Beatles and were well aware of their status in the world. When I was little ‘Here comes the sun’ was on rotation a bit, and I think definitely influenced me, but I’ve never made the connection to actually dive deeper.

Even as a teenager I kind of openly mocked the Beatles, just because I felt they were over the top and too popular. They had some good songs, but the best band in the world…. eeeh that was a stretch. At least to myself back then. I was a punk purist. Lol.

Anyway, as time went on… and after having experienced LSD a few times, and having discovered David Bowie and Pink Floyd, everything changed.

My friend was driving me somewhere not too long ago and had the ‘One’ album in the car, we played it. It was literally hit after hit. Not only were the songs philosophy deep, but had a lot of musical layers that were kind of complex but also very simplistic. They also had songs that blew my mind like ‘Hello, Goodbye’ which is simple but sounded sort of like a lullaby. Something that transcends the mind because it breaks barriers of what people even think of music.

Being honest, it is quite clear that they are the best band in our history. I don’t think anything could change that. There’s obviously nobody that comes close because it only isn’t the songs. I do really think they changed culture and how we view our world… and if we removed that I’d be curious to see just how much we do daily and the mindset we have towards certain things that could’ve been influenced by the Beatles. A good example being Apple.

To me at least, they’re our modern Bach, Mozart, Beethoven.

There are others of course which I could consider to be up there as well such as Bowie, or Pink Floyd, etc. However, as a complete band and a story I think the Beatles top everything up.

So yeah… I’m a believer. I’m hooked, and I think they’ll be an influence towards me my entire life. I believe people will still be listening to them in 100 years for sure. They’re one of the greatest achievements by far throughout humanity — one of the main catalysts that carried society from a simpler past to a sudden, modern age.
