Repurposing my old desktop to truenas before my new desktop is built.

I have a Synology DS920 which I've outgrown. My desktop is 5 years old and running an i5-10400, and I am going to repurpose that machine as my new Nas with Truenas on it. I'm slowly building up my new desktop and was going to wait until I had that built and running before converting the old machine to Truenas. However, if I install Truenas now on my old desktop and get that running, I can sell the Synology sooner to finish the new desktop. It would mean I have no desktop for awhile, but I do have an old laptop with Windows that I can use to get Truenas up and running. I'm so use to my multi screen setup, I'm nervous about doing this and only having my crappy laptop to get Truenas setup and being able to ditch the Synology. Am I overthinking this, and should just do it?
