Why is Renegades forcing me to play solo?!?!?!

What the fuck is up with the Renegades forcing you to play by yourself?! One of the very early missions is single player only, and you CAN'T progress in the campaign without doing it. Me and my boyfriend have always done the campaigns together, I love experiencing the story with him, and now I just literally can't?! Destiny has never done this before, I don't know why they're starting now, but it fucking pisses me off. This is genuinely making me consider just being done with the game.
