Is DPT to MD realistic?
I'm a first year student in physical therapy school considering making the switch to med school. I had originally planned to pursue PA/MD, but my GPA was not where I needed it to be to make an application worthwhile. I applied to DPT last year and got in, and as I've been working through coursework and performing very well academically, I've been questioning whether I made the right decision. The more I learn about physical therapy, the more I realize how much I love medicine, but I do not know where to start. I have zero shadowing/clinical experience outside of physical therapy, and no relevant research or extracarricular involvement to include. My cGPA from undergrad is also very weak. I know I would need to find other ways to bolster my application outside the academic lens, but I'm questioning how realistic that might be while working towards my DPT. Any success stories from others in my situation? Is it something even worth trying to do? Thanks in advance.
