Renewing temporary resident with work permit

My temporary resident card is expiring soon, and I’m planning to renew it. I also have a work permit that’s tied to my temporary resident status, so I’m assuming it’ll expire at the same time.

I’m a bit unclear about the process.

1. Can I renew the temporary resident status and the work permit at the same time? I’m still employed, and my employer can provide the documents I need. Or do I have to extend my temporary resident status first and then apply for the work permit separately? If that’s the case, what happens in the gap between getting the renewed temporary resident status and waiting for the work permit....am I not allowed to work during that time?
2. For renewing temporary resident status, there’s a form available, but I can’t find a separate form for renewing a work permit. Do I renew it the same way I applied the first time?
