Trouble finding a gynecologist who accepts Medicare

Many people are of the impression that the vast majority of doctors accept Medicare. I’m starting to wonder if gynecology is an exception to this? The gynecologist that I had been seeing on private insurance canceled my appointment once they found out I had switched over to Medicare because they do not accept any form of Medicare whether original Medicare or advantage plans. Since that time I’ve asked for recs because I don’t want to just go to a doctor off Google that no one I know has ever heard of. Every time I get a good recommendation for someone who sounds like they would really be great, I call and either they do not accept Medicare at all, or they say they are not accepting any new Medicare patients; they will take care of their existing patients by accepting their Medicare but not so for new patients. Unfortunately the practice I had been going to does not take Medicare even for existing patients. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced difficulty in finding a board certified MD gynecologist who does accept Medicare. I’m in the northern suburbs of Atlanta so there are thousands of doctors here and I don’t pretend to have called all of them, but have called quite a few and I’m starting to get discouraged. And by the way this is for a problem visit with a diagnosis, not for a routine check up. I have a prescription that I need to get changed because none of the part DRX plans cover this drug and it’s expensive, so I need a doctor to write me a new script for a similar but different drug, but so far I haven’t been able to find a gynecologist that accepts Medicare so I can’t even get in with anyone to get my RX taken care of.
