Can I be forced into therapy? Can I be threatened or intimidated into having to attend or they take away my meds?
Can a doctor refuse to continue treating me after over a year of care simply because they want me to attend therapy, see a psychiatrist, or pursue behavioral health? I’ve been told that they can’t hold this against me. I’m a 40-year-old male, married with two kids, have a full-time career, a mortgage, and my medications are stable. I’ve attended therapy and counseling in the past, including CBT as a youth, and I’ve learned a lot from those experiences. I do not want to spend another ten years in therapy. I have diagnoses of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD).
