Any way to stop a flare?

I’ve had HS for as long as I can remember but about a year ago I had a random flare on my stomach next to my belly button. It was truly horrendous as you don’t realize how often you are hitting or rubbing that spot. Just tonight I felt a painful bump on my stomach again and I just can’t do this again. Is there anyway youve found effective to treat early before it becomes an open nightmare?
