If Demogorgons can smell blood, why didn’t they hunt down Hopper when he was shot?? (Season 5, Episode 1)

During Episode 1, when Hopper is in the back of the truck in the Upside Down, he is shot by the guns of soldiers attempting to take down the attacking Demogorgon.

However, when we visibly see him bleeding, the Demogorgon doesn’t hunt Hopper down but instead runs away?

The Demogorgon was there to kill, cause of the solider deaths, so why stop there?
