Love Jinhao 10, actual VP worth it?

Question

Title. Just got a Jinhao 10 a few days ago. I was preparing for the worst as I’ve heard the QA is hit and miss. To my surprise I lucked out; the <f> nib is smoother and wetter than my lamy and twsbi <f>, and similar to my medium preppy.

The original aim of this pen is for me to test the ergonomics, and it has went above and beyond. I found that I enjoy the weight of the pen and the clip is comfortable. Not sure about the seal as I’ve been using it everyday but so far no drying out overnight.

So now I’m question if there’s even a point/ need to get the actual vp, as I’m enjoying this 10 dollar pen so much. I can’t really imagine it getting much better than this and probably not 16x better.

I almost wish the nib/seal was obviously shitty so this decision is easier lmao.

As you know pilot is doing price increase in a month, so I kind of want to make this decision quick (and use Christmas as an excuse too ;) )

Side question, haven’t tried a Japanese fine yet (which is what I’d be getting). It is really scratchy, like the back of a western medium, or is it smoother since it’s the proper side of the nib? Thanks!
