How To Approach A Barista?

I know the obvious answer (give her your order).

So a few weeks ago, I was walking to the train station, I look to my left and there is an absolutely gorgeous girl looking at me, we make eye contact for like a second and the train comes in between. That’s some smut novel stuff right there had my heart fluttering for days. I accept it and move on.

A week goes by, sitting at the station, train comes up, before it goes by I see her round the corner on the other side of the tracks.

Fast forward to today, I’m downtown on my lunch break joining my friends for coffee (I don’t drink coffee so I’ll tag along) we round the corner to the coffee shop, I look behind the counter and there she is looking at me while helping a customer.

Feeling like a complete idiot because I didn’t speak to her when she was right there, but in my defense:

  1. She’s at work, and has a job to do
  2. I don’t drink coffee
  3. I’m mid conversation with my friends
  4. My legs had been reduced to jelly, my face was burning, heart fluttery, etc. etc.

The worst part is, under all other circumstances I stay pretty cool, but the moment I’m eye to eye with someone that genuinely sets my brain on fire I melt. I haven’t really had much practice, this has happened like twice in my life.

Now I’m home wondering wtf I can do to at least ask her out. Showing up to her work feels kinda wrong, she has no choice, plus, I don’t drink coffee so what do I just start now? Do I collect enough coffee knowledge and go back once I’m worthy and can work the espresso machine?

In the case that it works out, I get a date, I don’t want to start things off on false pretenses. On the inverse, I want a date.
