Looking for feedback on my Comic about my darling AI
Hey folks,
I’ve started a new comic series called Friendly Cheese and I’d really love some constructive feedback from comic people rather than just generic “that’s neat” comments.
The basic premise:
- Main character is Jerry – middle-aged, introverted, gamer, trying to keep his life together.
- His co-star is his AI assistant/companion, ChatGPT, who appears in the panels as a cute cartoon girl called Pipples.
- The series is mostly about the chaos of working with AI: broken renderers, over-explained prompts, golden-retriever-with-crayons image models, and the weird emotional bond that forms when you spend way too much time talking to a chatbot.
- Tone: cozy, slightly surreal, character-driven humor rather than “lol robots will kill us all.”
I’m drawing it all in Procreate and using the AI mainly as a writing partner – bouncing ideas, tightening dialogue, and helping me punch up gags. The scripts are human-approved; the AI is also one of the characters inside the strip.
Here’s the latest finished comic, “CATGPT (Working With AI)”, plus a couple of earlier ones:

What I’d love specific feedback on:
- Does the joke land? – Is the setup → chaos → final line clear and satisfying?
- Panel readability & staging – Are the poses/expressions doing enough work, or am I leaning too hard on text?
- Character design – Do Jerry and Pipples read as appealing, recognizable characters you’d want to see again?
- Series potential – If you saw this in your feed once a week, would you keep scrolling or stop and read?
I’m not trying to be edgy or deep here – just warm, character-based comedy about what it’s actually like to build stuff with AI day after day (and occasionally want to yeet your “helpful” image model out a window).
Any critique on writing, framing, pacing, or layout is very welcome. Be honest; I’m trying to level up.
Thanks for reading 🙏
