Looking for an obscure sci-fi/body-mod movie (1990–2015) about illegal enhancement surgeries
Hi all — I’ve been trying to find this movie for YEARS and can’t track it down. I saw it on TV (Sci-Fi Channel) sometime between the late 90s and early 2000s, but it could have been made anytime from around 1990–2015.
Here’s everything I remember:
• It was in English, with American accents. • It had a research-facility vibe, like a secret or illegal medical lab doing experimental surgeries. • People were getting constant physical “upgrades” — knee joints, hips, enhanced limbs, etc. They kept modifying themselves to become superhuman. • One guy could run extremely fast due to his enhanced joints/body parts. • The enhancements seemed to be illegal or unauthorized, done behind the scenes by the facility or by the employees themselves.
Key scenes I remember clearly:
1️⃣ Early scene — a fancy awards/gala ceremony: • People in formal clothing. • A naked person covered head-to-toe in scars barges into the event. • They cause a huge scene and commit suicide in front of everyone using a scalpel/knife/piece of glass. • I think it was a man, but it could’ve been a woman — the scars made it hard to tell.
2️⃣ Later in the movie: • A thin woman with very short dark hair (black or brown) dies by injecting herself with some kind of drug (maybe morphine). • As she’s dying she says something like: “It makes you so happy you forget to breathe.”
Tone / genre: • More mystery/thriller than action. • The main character might have been new to the facility — someone discovering what was actually going on with these surgeries. ⸻
Does this ring a bell for anyone? Even super-obscure TV movies or direct-to-video titles would fit — I just want to finally find this thing!
