How do you counteract time wasters?

I'm sick of being in games with just 1 goal in it only for my opponent at the like 60th minute decide they are just going to pass it around the back for 30 minutes, I put my team on attack, try pressing and i only ever get my striker or maybe a winger try to help get the ball back whilst my opponent comfortably has 30 minutes to kill, however if i try to do the same in the 85th minute of a match my opponent can somehow send their whole team into my half to press me into conceding a goal.

How do people do this, time wasting is honestly one of the most frustrating things in the game but honestly I get it, as I said I do the same although I usually start when there is only minutes left not half the damn game.
