Solo Travel 2026 - Feb-June

Hey everyone,

I am a 25 year old from Canada and planning my second ever solo trip. The first one I did was Hungary, Serbia and Bosnia and I really fell for that slower way of living. Sitting for a long time with a coffee or tea, trying new food, walking around old cultural and religious places, meeting people just living their normal life. I am not a party or beach guy at all.

I want to travel for around 4 to 5 months, with a budget under 10k CAD if I can pull it off. I will stay in some hostels but not every single night, so tips for cheap guesthouses or homestays would help.

Countries I want to visit (still flexible): Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Poland, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco

I am curious which ones you think are the best for slow travel and culture. Also if there are a couple here you would skip and why. And if there are other countries close by that I am missing completely.

One of the best parts of my last trip were the people I met, so any ideas on how to connect with locals more and not just other tourists would be great.

Thanks for any advice. I am still early in planning so everything helps.
