Hartford Advice

I love spending time in Hartford during fun events like Yardgoats games, local shops & restaurants, theatre events, etc!

So this past weekend I was excited for the events on Pratt St to support the small businesses there and local vendors during the pop up shops. Unfortunately on Friday when I went for the first day of activities, I forgot it wasn’t a weekend (holiday Thursday messed me up) so I ended up getting a parking ticket. No big deal, I made an error so that’s on me.

The thing is, I just noticed the ticket has incorrect information for my vehicle (wrong state listed). In addition, it says my hearing date would be 12/25. Does anyone know if 1) I am really still liable to pay this ticket when it technically doesn’t have my vehicle on it and 2) if the court house is actually open on Christmas for me to be able to attend the court hearing for it?

I’m a PhD student (hence different plates until I graduate and get a permanent residence here in CT ☺️) only on half time stipend working two jobs on top of that to make up a livable wage—-so if I don’t have to pay the $45 right before the holidays that would be awesome. Anyone with insight into how the city might look at this error / how I can approach it would be great!

I always pay my parking and it was an honest mistake on my part I won’t overlook again. Thanks for any insight! :)

P.S. A note about different parking options: my friend (also grad student but CT local) who joined me parked in a garage that didn’t list a closing time. When he went back at 8pm garage door was down and the entrance to the building locked. So he had to leave his car in the garage overnight and it came to $92 when he got it the next day!! I couldn’t believe there was no max fee it caps at overnight. I was told by someone else they’ve had friends get stuck in the same garage like that.

When my friend retrieved his car he asked about how to get in and they said there’s a button to enter after hours. Teeny tiny signage and no light illuminating it. Overall seems pretty predatory! Surprised the city lets them operate like that.
