Stop the Hate on Data Centers

There is just so much hostility in Ohio toward data centers and I honestly think it is kind of unfair and also frustrating because these places are actually really important. A lot of people keep saying they don’t bring enough jobs but they are like part of our basic infrastructure just the same as power plants and water facilities and even the systems that keep our internet going, and we don’t expect a water plant to have hundreds of workers because the point is that it gives us clean reliable water not a bunch of jobs, so it’s kind of the same idea here with data centers.

People don’t realize what these facilities are actually doing every day like keeping hospital records online so doctors can pull up charts fast or making sure banking apps and payment systems don’t freeze, and they also connect to 911 services and emergency responders which feels pretty important to everyone. Plus a lot of businesses need stable servers just to function at all and schools and universities rely on them for online classes and research so basically they are helping everything run even if we don’t see it.

It just makes me question why people are so angry about having a data center in their town but then they still get mad when websites crash or apps slow down or when companies won’t move here because there isn’t enough tech infrastructure, so complaining about them seems like hurting ourselves in the long run.
