less anxiety = more dysfunction
does anyone else deal with periods of complete shut down?
recently it's hard to care about things. things i normally love to do that are also objectively hard because of dysfunction. usually my anxiety and meds combo gets me to a place where i can initiate tasks, but recently ive been feeling sort of like i just don't care, or it's too hard to care. basic life tasks are so fucking overwhelming. hobbies are overwhelming. showering, eating, working, driving, it's all overwhelming. friends, family, events, too much
ive always felt this way, but like i said, my anxiety would propel me to do things, especially if i was taking my meds. i also have c-ptsd, in and out of therapy for about 16 years, and recently started anti-depressants. for a few years ive had a fantastic therapist who has helped me so much, especially surrounding over-functioning, and ive finally given myself permission to rest sometimes, although i could find better ways to, it's a great start (rest days are usually scrolling and watching youtube videos..)
but... ive also run into the problem of overindulging. the problem is that it genuinely helps me feel more at ease, better rested, less chronic migraines, but also steals my time to do my hobbies and socialize. it's been feeling harder and harder to break the habit of overindulging in rest, and now i feel like im just not functioning properly
summary: therapy helps me get to a place to rest, got too used to resting, task paralysis and executive function worse than ever, adhd is exhausting
i understand i'm extremely privileged to be dealing with this issue, and im so grateful for the time i have to rest, im just dealing with not being able to function/care about my life now, and was wondering if anyone else deal w this. it feels like if i give my brain a small taste of not being totally in control all the time, it completely gives up on functioning, and it's hard to find an in-between state where i can rest/do nothing sometimes and also have a life
