physical card question

Decide to get a "card" and take advantage of the cashback when I use interact. If I understand this correctly.

At the time of signup, I added it to my Apple Wallet. I just got the card 2 weeks (maybe 1) later and wondering if I need to activate it, or can I just use Apple Wallet and keep the physical card disabled?
