For anyone who remembers or followed my last post a while back — here’s a rough update I never thought I’d be writing.

After I picked up my Rivian from service, I noticed some severe startling sounds and found a completely disconnected plastic panel in my upper frunk.  I lifted it to find a Rivian-branded screwdriver left inside the frunk electronics compartment, under loose panels near wiring and control modules.

To make matters worse: the original issue still isn’t fixed. I was told the front dampeners were replaced to correct misalignment from leaking shocks. The vehicle drives exactly the same as before.

This is not the first failure, and unfortunately it follows a pattern that’s been going on since 2022 across multiple Rivian service centers (Richmond, Gaithersburg, Glen Burnie).

My last post documented unresolved water intrusion, missed pickups, broken trim, and rental car failures. This latest visit added a new category: negligence.

I’m dropping it back off tomorrow — again — and being told transportation isn’t available unless I arrive exactly on the appointment date, despite Rivian returning the vehicle unsafe.  This is pretty surprising for the Glen Burnie, MD service center that has been the least terrible so far (still not good, though).

I genuinely like the truck. That’s why I’ve stayed patient for years.

But at some point you stop being an “early adopter” and start being someone whose time, safety, and trust have been exhausted.  

Anyone considering this brand, take this as a warning.


Potential Buyers Be Warned!Update 2 years later: Service returned my Rivian with a screwdriver inside the frunk electronics & the original issue is still unfixed.  Service remains abysmal.
