Is the ASUS V16 RTX 4050 model a horrible gaming laptop to buy?

I'm looking to buy the ASUS V16 RTX 4050 and Core 7 240H model. I will be using this for school with gaming on the side. I like this laptop because it doesn't look like one at all but I saw reviews saying to avoid it completely. Is this true and also how is the battery life?
