Amex - I want a 2x everything card

:Points: Discussion :Points:

Why doesn’t Amex have a 2x everything personal card?

I simply think it’s missing out on dominating more market share.

I’m a loyal Gold and Platinum card holder. I put basically all of my dining out and grocery shopping on the Gold, and I use Platinum for much of my travel related spend.

Amex has built a reputation for having better customer service than the other majors. I feel at ease putting big purchases there.

But let’s face it - CapitalOne Venture X has 2X everything and is a Visa network card.

Chase Unlimited has 1.5x with Sapphire combo wombo.

Amex points aren’t more valuable than either of the other big programs either, e.g. Hyatt is not transfer partner. Japan Airlines is not a transfer partner (for those of us who love Asia).

And for 1x, BILT has the most valuable transfer program. Especially for me when I spend 200K+ each year and get platinum status and transfer bonus is always 100%.

If Amex came out with a 2x, I’d be pretty incentivized to switch all of my shopping over. And I mean all.

So why wouldn’t they? The wrong client demographic? Razor Thin Profitability?

AXP up 44% this year. Gross profit margin 64%.

No matter what income group you are in, we’ve all become more financially conscious last few years after inflation. Rich people GAF about points too, if not even more.

I think Amex could really increase wallet share with a 2X-er.

Take my money.

Thoughts?
