My cat does absolutely nothing. What do I do?

She doesn't play with anything for more than 5 minutes despite the multitude of toys I've tried and only gets excited when I give her food. Just sits around and sleeps all day. Does not interact with me. She has no health problems and explores the house on a daily basis in the mornings (i.e., she's active). Is this how owning a cat feels like? The only thing I can do to enjoy with her is giving her rubs under the chin and petting her head. Doesn't even sleep in my room or really interact with me by her own volition/stay near me. I've had her for more than a year now.

I'm a surtical resident and wanted a cat instead of a dog becuase people said it was more hands-off/easier, but this is way too far towards that end of the spectrum than I was expecting.
