Killing Baby Axolotl?
I recently came across a creator on IG reels that is trying to raise over 200 baby axolotl, maybe no older than a week or two at this point. I really enjoyed the content, until a reel she posted yesterday about killing 4 of the babies. I’ve never owned an axolotl but I do have exotics and have considered an axolotl as a pet in the past. But to me, killing the babies was pretty shocking.
I guess the backstory is, she noticed their bellies weren’t getting full, so she moved them to their own little jars. Then, after “trying everything” to get them to eat, she decided to just kill them to “put them out of their misery”. Can anyone from this sub chime in on whether this is the real ethical solution? I believe they used clove oil to kill them. Before killing them, she showed a video of them moving around and they looked just fine?
