D9 Pledging/Requirements

I attend a PWI in Texas and I’ve always wanted to pledge to a D9 sorority (I grew up with family and friends who pledged). I won’t say which one I interested in because I don’t think you’re supposed to, but I wanted to know general ins and outs about pledging. Ive had family tell me about paying my way which is looked down upon or just pledging normally like everyone else. I’ve done research on a particular chapter I’m interested in and it required a certain GPA and certain hours of community service, and I haven’t done any community service because of how busy my daily life is. I have alot of questions about this in general and don’t want to overload this post, so if anyone has any insight about this please let me know! I’m willing to hear anything anyone has to offer me, and if I’m doing or saying anything wrong/offense in the post please let me know!
