Series finale music substitution (S4:E10): Ludovico Einaudi’s EXPERIENCE
First time poster in this sub, long time Reddit user. Just background for me: big fan of Nicholas Britell’s work doing music for Succession and Andor (Niamos much?😅).
I searched old posts to see if someone had suggested this already. Old posts mentioned Einaudi’s music is similar to the classic music tracks that appear in the show, but not this song specifically. I only recently learned about Einaudi’s music from Anna Lapwood’s posts about working with him.
This track syncs up pretty well to the last two minutes of the finale: Apple Music has Ludovico Einaudi’s album Winds Of Change. The first track is Experience. On the show clock it’s about 1:24 into the episode. The scene after Tom steps out into the hall to tell Shiv he has a “car in 20” then he goes back into the conference room. The first two GoJo executives walk up to Tom to shake hands.
➡️➡️ Mute the show sound. Start the track after Tom finishes shaking Ebba’s hand and starts briefly clapping again before shaking Matsson’s hand. There is about 3 seconds between the handshakes. You want the music rolling before Tom clasps hands with Matsson. Closed captioning is optional.
If you do it right, about 12 seconds into the song there is a single piano high note that is held, a very brief (quarter/eighth?) rest, then the next chord will come in as the martini being poured hits Roman’s glass. As long as you’re within about a second of the chord+liquid-hits-glass getting synched up, you’re good. Even if you’re off by a couple of seconds you’ll get a very interesting viewing experience. The payoff will be at the 1:30 mark of the song.
