agriculture level 1 required just to clean up my yard?

a couple months into my run and the back yard is starting to look rough. I grabbed a trowel and a hoe and went to start clearing the weeds and stuff by using the lift up item thing that you use to pick up counters and stuff, but it says i need agriculture level one to do any of that. i can still chop the saplings down, but i dont see any way to remove the little bushes and weeds without fucking up the grass with a scythe or shovel.

is there really no way to accomplish this without the skill? as far sa i know there is no way to get agriculture skill other than harvesting crops that ive grown. seems stupid that i have to tend crops for months just to be able to pull some weeds
