I’m looking for some advice regarding a warranty issue with my 2021 Honda Odyssey, purchased new and still under warranty.

Recently, my car displayed a “Check Fuel Gauge System” warning. I took it to North Shore Honda for inspection. After checking the car, they told me the fault was caused by “external water/fuel contamination” and therefore is not covered under warranty and charged me the diagnostic fees.

However, when I asked further, the manager said there is no water found in the fuel tank now but it may be long time ago and the water may have been evaporated or diluted over time.

They just provided me the photos I attached above and a sentence from the invoice saying “CAUSE OF CORROSION TO THE SENDER UNIT AND BUMP”.

They asked me if I refuelled my car with E10 but I had never use E10 and always use 98/91 for my car. And I didn’t experience any engine problem before and I do regular service checks from them and never report any water/fuel contamination issue before.

Based on the photos:
* The plastic fuel pump housing looks clean
* The electrical connectors show minimal corrosion
* Only the metal arm is heavily rusted

This pattern is more consistent with **long-term moisture exposure**, not suddenly dumping water into the tank.

If actual water contamination happened:
* The filter sock would be dirty or discoloured
* The pump internals would show water marks
* There would be fuel/water separation evidence
* I would have experienced engine problems

These would be internal manufacturing or component issues, not customer-caused external factors.

Do you guys think it should be under warranty and any suggestions on this case?

P.S.

1. I tried to argue with the dealership again but they refused to refund and fix it under warranty and said they’ll send this case for Honda to review. Then, after a few days, they told me Honda rejected.

2. I tired to escalate to Honda myself but got the same results saying it was caused by external influence, ie poor quality fuel.

3. I raised a disputed transaction to my card company with all the evidence and supporting documents and it has been accepted (waiting for the refund to be credited back to my card).

4. I raised a dispute case to Fair Trading and still waiting for someone to contact me for my case.
