Can Owen Hargreaves speak German?

Bit of a random question, I know!

Hargreaves spent around 10 years playing for Bayern (both youth & senior teams), however I've never seen a single video of him speaking German.

Admittedly he played there in a mostly pre internet era, but I'm surprised there aren't any post match interviews of him from that era, that are available.

Given that it's rare for English players to speak a non-native language, especially fluently, I'm just wondering if anyone who followed Bayern at that time, knows if he can speak German, and how well?

Thanks
