ONDS - The Future of Drones and Defense

The Trump administration is now shifitng its focus towards robotics, after AI, expecting an executive order next year, per POLITICO.

Who could be a primary beneficiary of this? A leading candidate in my opinion would be ONDS.

For those of you who don’t know who ONDS is, they’re a leader in autonomous drones and counter-UAS. Ondas was just announced as the prime contractor for a major U.S. government tender to build and deploy an autonomous border-protection drone system.

The contract is described as a multi-phase, multi-year program with plans for “thousands of drones” to be used for border security.

An initial purchase order under this program is expected to begin in January 2026, with full deployment planned over the subsequent two years.

The system will combine autonomous drone platforms, AI-driven sensor fusion, and swarm / threat-mitigation capabilities — i.e. Ondas won a “system-of-systems” contract, not just a one-off drone sale.

Ondas achieved the highest overall performance and was awarded the program based on its proven autonomous capabilities, scalable architecture, and demonstrated operational maturity.

There has been a significant run up over the last several months but I think we could still be early on this one. Winning any government contract is a big deal especially on the defense side of things.
