is it safe to bring my vape from mexico to houston tx?

(Before you comment anything along the lines of: "stop vaping" "don't" and yada yada yada I won't if it's really that dangerous and risky. No biggie. However I do wanna know if it's relatively easy to do.)

Thinking of bringing my vape (not thc, just a regular nicotine one) back to my hometown as i'm living in mexico, but apparently it's now illegal to have them in mexico? Just found out honestly. My friend tells me she's done it just fine by wrapping hers up with clothes in her checked luggage however I see many say you're better off taking it in your carry on. I considered the checked luggage thing cause I could just turn my vape off and put it between all my clothes + my suitcases have locks, but I don't know 🤷🏻 I have this DJ'ing backpack i'm taking where i'm gonna put a bunch of cables and other electronics so I assume it wouldn't stick out much in there, and i've heard security doesn't care cause they're looking for bombs and weapons not vapes. However, i'm not trynna risk getting arrested or fined or some shit. Give me solid advice, and don't be a cop. Thanks!
