aitah for taking me away from my family?

For a few years now, my parents have been facing problems in their relationship. My father is very ignorant and conservative, while my mother is very rude and is more liberal. They never really clicked in almost every way, and since then they've been having increasingly frequent and increasingly worse arguments. They never fought or anything like that, but you can say that my brothers and I had a hard time with their fights (but, thank God, nothing too serious).

At home there are five people: me and my brothers (I am the middle one) and my parents. I have a difference of approximately 5 years with my brothers. Five years younger than the oldest and six years older than the youngest. Do you understand?

A few months ago, my parents had a fight where my father accused my mother of allegedly cheating on him and they have since decided to divorce. The problem is that my father doesn't leave the house, even after saying he would and everything, and this has caused my mother A LOT of stress. She's always grumpy on the days he comes home (because he spends most of the day outside because of work) and he's always grumpy because of how tired he is from working day and night.

My brother is in a terrible phase, very difficult, always talking back to me and his elders, doesn't do anything at home, and blablabla — normal things that children do, but it's still wrong. The problem is how oblivious my parents are to this and practically say nothing, they just accept it. Simply.

I've had some arguments with my mother because of this, but I'm always the annoying one. And this is repeated countless times. I argue with my father because he accuses me of “always being defensive” and every time he makes a fuss when I'm even the slightest bit dry. My mother, aunt and grandmother complain that I don't say anything anymore and I keep to myself, and sometimes I have to repeat what I said two or more times because they simply get distracted or make fun of what I'm saying.

Furthermore, many other “small” and “futile” things happen within my family’s cycle of coexistence that keep repeating and repeating themselves and eventually become exhausting, so I’m not going to dwell any longer on the complaints.

I just wanted to make it clear that I have been distancing myself from my family a lot because, despite being very uncomfortable with how horrible the atmosphere at home is and how my relationship with the rest of the family tends to get even worse, I am very grateful to them and I simply don't want to “rebel” (if you can say that). I just wanted to take a vacation from them and come back as if nothing had happened, as if everything had been fine from the beginning and I had no problem with how the family has been staying away. I just wish I didn't feel so angry at them sometimes, but I also wanted them to look at me.

Anyway, am I the idiot for being apathetic to my family? What can I do to improve? Is it just a bad phase and will everything fall into place again?

notes: sorry for the rant :(
