Colonoscopy pathology results
57 F. I had a colonoscopy a few weeks ago. I technically wasn't due for another 4 years (was on the 10-year plan after my first, clean one at 50), but this year I had some unintended weight loss (which was likely due to stress, common for me) and some very mild abdominal cramps. I am a bit of hypochondriac, so I mentioned it to the doctor; most people probably wouldn't have thought twice about it. So mainly due to the weight loss, he ordered a colonoscopy, which I thought was overkill. Well, turns out they found two small but pre-cancerous polyps. The path report says one was a sessile serrated adenoma and the other a tubular adenoma. Google tells me these are both considered pre-cancerous. I have always eaten a healthy diet, didn't eat meat for 30 years, have no risk factors, and no history in my family, not even of benign polyps, so this was quite a surprise. Guess I will be on the more frequent flyer program moving forward.
Anyone else have these findings?
