Dead NVMe drive?

Open | Hardware

I bought this PC about 4 years ago with an NVMe boot drive. I've been using it without issue for that time, but recently it froze up and the bios did not detect my boot disk (other disks are still detected). After a couple reboots it seemed to be working fine, but a few days later it happened again and this time the drive did not come back. I tried reseating the drive and moving it to a different port but it is still not recognized. I couldn't find any M2/NVMe settings in my Bios. I haven't made any hardware changes or software updates except normal Windows updates. Accessing recovery mode using a Windows USB stick, I don't see that drive listed from the command line.

Is there anything else I should try? I don't have access to another computer with M2 ports.

If it is time to give up, then do I need to know anything special about transferring my Windows license over to a new drive on the same hardware?

Thanks in advance 😔
