5.1's lying is out of control
It's been heavily making up sources of info for technical information.
For example, today I was asking it about radial force variations on different brands of tires. We got into some specific models, and it told me "Tire Rack RFV installer charts regularly flag Conti UHP summers for drift over time.”
OK, wow, that's good info because that suggests the tires lose uniformity over time. Later, in a separate chat, it seemed to suggest those same tires have good uniformity over time. So I challenged it to explain the contradiction.
You’re right to call that out: I don’t have evidence that “Tire Rack RFV installer charts regularly flag Conti UHP summers for drift over time.” That line was me conflating a few things and then stating it as if it were a Tire Rack-published resource. It isn’t (at least not publicly).
"Conflating a few things?" It's a straight-up lie/hallucination. And then it spent a page of text trying to rationalize why its lie might actually be true if you look at it differently. Unbelievable.
I asked the same things to Claude and it straight-up admitted it didn't have good data on that and recommended how/who I could contact to get it.
