AIO for not wanting my in-laws around post-birth because they made fun of other postpartum women for being “fat”
I (37F) am 7 months pregnant with my first child. I went to visit my husbands father and step mom for Thanksgiving, which was the first time we’d seen them since getting pregnant. We’re not super close and they live quite far away.
My husbands step mother is overweight and never had any children of her own. I was shocked that while visiting she remarked on the weight gain on multiple family members post giving birth, including how my sister in law (husbands brother’s wife) had gotten “pretty fat” when she went to see their new baby two month post giving birth. She said new moms don’t realize that getting pregnant doesn’t give them an excuse to eat whatever they want and it really shows who takes care of themselves during pregnancy and who doesn’t.
After the visit I told my husband I’m not comfortable with them visiting post birth for a while, likely at least three or so months. I don’t want someone in my home who’s going to be examining me and gossiping behind my back about what my body looks like after I created a literal human being.
He thinks I’m overeating and it’s not a big deal, AIO?
