Hygiene rant
If you're offended by these personal observations, congratulations - you are the kind of person I'm talking about.
I see so many women leaving the toilet without washing their hands, or they will wash without soap. Wtf is wrong with you? Everyone saw you touch the doorknob and heard you flush the toilet.
No masking in public places. Coughing, yawning and sneezing without covering your mouths. Not masking at the clinic where the waiting room is typically full of sick people is CRAZY to me. Yes, masking is more effective when sick people do it, and not as effective when healthy people do. But it has kept me from getting sick since the pandemic. And I don't even do it everywhere, just crowded and infection-prone spots like hospitals and transit.
So many of the people I see on campus don't even sanitize or wash their hands before touching food. At events, I've seen people touch the communal microphone and then pick up and eat food with the same hand. That's nasty. It's why everybody keeps getting the flu and stomach bugs.
And why do all the men on campus either smell like a pile of shit or super synthetic, nauseating perfume? There seems to be no in-between. It's always a surprise when a man walks by me and I don't have to gag.
Tips for not getting sick: Don't touch any part of your face or head, or touch food/straws/utensils, unless you're sure you just sanitized or washed your hands with soap and water. Shower everyday or every other day. Deodorant is useless if your skin/scalp has accumulated sweat and bacteria on it. A simple, clean cloth mask can save you from many infectious viruses going around. Get the flu shot every fall and spring. End of rant.
