How do I talk to my roommate about the food situation in our dorm?
My roommate and I are both a freshman I’m 19F and she’s 20F, we were randomly assigned (idk if that matters).
So my roommate and her family are not in a financially good place at all so my family and I (mainly me) have just taken on the chore of ordering the weekly groceries. Here’s the catch though, I’m spending $50-80 a week on both of our groceries for objectively not that much food. I’m using my family’s DoorDash account so I can take advantage of the DashPass, which does help a lot. But I also don’t have a job, don’t drive, and I’ve run out of meal credits for this semester (which is thankfully almost over).
Anyway, my roommate and I didn’t really talk about the specifics about food, we always just eat whatever we wanted. But it’s now at a point where she eats everything my parents bring up every time they visit, like ramen and stuff, and everything I order every week even the four pack of generic brand protein shakes which I rely on to meet my daily protein goal for my calorie deficit.
I find it’s easier for both of us to talk to each other over text, rather than in person.
TL;DR: I need advice on communicating with my roommate about food in our dorm.
