Box-Wave Trading System
Box-Wave Trading System
Type: Technical Analysis
Description:
The Box-Wave System combines classical box-range structures with Elliott Wave analysis. It uses multi-timeframe alignment, volume confirmation, and macro trend filters to execute high-probability swing trades in crypto markets.
Entry Rules
1. Macro Trend Alignment (4H)
- The target asset must move in the same direction as BTC.
- Longs: BTC is in an uptrend.
- Shorts: BTC is in a downtrend.
2. Elliott Wave Confirmation (4H)
Identify a clear 1–2–3–4 wave sequence.
Enter on:
- The completion of Wave 2 (anticipating a Wave 3 impulse), or
- The completion of Wave 4 (anticipating a Wave 5 impulse).
To validate Waves 1 and 2, the corrective phase preceding Wave 1 must last at least two weeks, ensuring structural significance.
3. Daily Resistance/Support Buffer
The nearest daily resistance (for longs) or support (for shorts) must be at least 5% away from the current price to allow sufficient upside potential.
4. Multi-Timeframe Confluence
Use either:
- Daily + 1H, or
- 4H + 15m to confirm alignment of trend, momentum, and key support/resistance zones.
5. Box Breakout Confirmation (15m)
Price must consolidate at a key zone and form a valid breakout structure:
Breakout → Pullback → Second Breakout (or retest of prior level) → Second Pullback
Volume requirements for entry:
- Volume ≥ 1.5× the average during the bottom reversal, or
- Volume ≥ 1.5× the average on the second breakout.
Exit Rules
1. Technical Stop-Loss
Place the stop beyond the outer boundary of the pre-breakout box to avoid fake-outs.
2. Time-Based Stop-Loss
If price fails to advance in the breakout direction within 48 hours, exit the position.
3. Partial Take-Profit
- Take 50% at the first target.
- Hold the rest for an extended target, typically the Wave 5 extension zone.
4. Trailing Stop
Once price reaches half of the primary target, move the stop-loss to breakeven or a protective level.
5. Momentum Exit
Exit partially or fully if:
- RSI shows divergence, or
- Volume begins to contract significantly.
Risk Management
- Risk per trade: 2% of account equity
- Daily max risk: 5% (stop opening new positions once reached)
- Weekly max risk: 10% to control cyclical volatility
- Correlation limit: Positions should share no more than 15% correlation
- Maximum holding time: 2 weeks; exit if price remains directionless
