Retractable hose systems?
Hi,
I'm rebuilding a house and am considering a retractable hose system. Ideally, I would have one per floor, but I am building a split house so end up with 5 levels (about 3500sqft), which becomes unaffordable.
That said, I am considering longer hoses instead. In my previous vacuum system, I was limited to 30', but the powered hose was heavy and cumbersome to lug around. Is moving to a 50' retractable hose a bad idea? How unwieldy is working with a 50' hose?
With a 50' hose, I am hoping to limit myself to 2 and perhaps a shorter 30' in the basement.
So is that too much for unit? I figure that 2x50 + 1x30 is at least 200-300' of pipe (need to factor 55' for each hidden hose plus 35' ) plus all the necessary runs, 90s and Ys to get back to the canister.
From what I can tell, there seems to be 3 primary manufacturers:
- Hide-A-Hose
- Cameleon
- Retraflex
Is there any difference between these systems? Are they all the same - just different brand names? Are there any others on the market?
Any suggestions would be greatly recommended.
