Some questions about stonesplit tank rotation and general approach to group content
Hi, I searched around on the internet, but usually I see very general tips such as "get this gear", so even if questions sound basic, I just decided to ask anyway.
With stonesplit-might, I kinda deduced I should do this:
-storm roar
-thunder shock
-fury spear
-switch (with attack or "manually")
-predator's shield
-sunrush gale
-charged heavy
Is this ok?
And after that, I don't know, since I'm not sure if the rotation syncs with itself. Should I just do that again or prioritize shield or just charge heavy even if the buffs drop etc?
I had a similar thing with dual blades where the duration of rats is weird compared to the sword sequence, but there the "rotation" is much simpler, less criss-cross, so you just switch when it seems good, since I thin it will drift anyway. But, for stonesplit, I'm a bit confused, everything goes into everything lol
Another question I have is about tanking in general. Since these skills all depend on each other and they're all pretty long and effectively cc you quite a bit, how much do you actually deflect or block while tanking? Is healer expecting you to eat damage a bit and do your thing or you're straining them if you're just doing it? If it's something in between, what do you pay attention to?
I guess I can also ask this in general when it comes to raids and bosses. There are some encounters I know quite well and I can probably avoid 99% or even 100% of the avoidable damage with dps builds. But, I don't know if that's an overkill since I end up deflecting a lot at the cost of damage. If I just wail on the boss mindlessly, it still seems healing deals with that pretty well, but I wonder how that affects healers, since I haven't played the role yet.
My guess would be it's kind of a moment to moment decision to let things fly or deflect?
Thanks:)
Ah, also, when I play dps, tanks don't really rotate the boss from the group. And when I'm tanking and I do, people just go to my side anyway. Is boss positioning (in this context, not in the "get him out of his aoe") something I shouldn't bother with or it's just player base baby steps?
