Does anyone else feel absolutely violated by this whole process?

Meme/Off-Topic

It seems like every adcom has a different way of interpreting our every move. Every minor career decision, course grade, point on the LSAT, internship, even down to our hobbies will be absolutely picked apart and deemed either Good or Bad.

Listening to a podcast today about what comes across as genuine or not in a Why X essay, how you have to go deeper than just the programs they offer…bro I just want to go to your school. Everything I write in an essay might seem surface-level but it comes from the heart. Hearing how “information from the website” comes across as low-effort genuinely made me crash out. Why put that information out there if applicants shouldn’t use it as justification to go? Just one instance of how such a black box process makes applicants feel like they’re going insane.
