OT and ceasing services

Venting - Advice Wanted

Hey wonderful OTs! First time posting here, just needing some advice.

I’m a relatively early-career therapist and I just had my first client cease services unexpectedly. I’m really struggling with it and could use some perspective from other clinicians.

The reason given was:

“Not the quality of service, but rather what the mother feels another OT meets her child’s needs currently.”

Even though they said it wasn’t about quality, I still feel confused and kind of shaken. Part of me worries they just said that to soften the blow, and there’s another part of me that’s scared this means I’m not a good therapist.

Does anyone have some advice or words of wisdom? I was already feeling quite burnt out from this year and feeling like this might not be for me.
