Looking for design advice or just advice on general...

Our contractor suggested that we use mitered edges instead of schluter trim so that there would be no transition in the niches. Then we bought the tile and grout, and intentionally did not buy any trim since we had our agreement. They finished installing the tile today (no grout yet) and I go check things out... There's schluter trim! ... That we didn't even buy! So... They admitted their mistake and are willing to come and redo the tile... BUT... they have to remove all of the tile and then reinstall without the schluter, which will add another 2-3 days to the project. They are a week behind schedule and, honestly, my wife and I are kind tired of the construction zone in our house. We're not completely against the schluter trim, but we both think that the color clashes. If we were planning on using the trim, we would have tried to key it off of a color in the niche tile or off of the the grout. We've been told that you can paint the trim, and we think that could be a good option since our color probably should be endless...but I have zero experience with that and don't know if it would yield quality results or if it would have to be repainted again in a few years

So the question is... Do we endure at least another 2-3 days on our project to have the seamless tile? Or do we have the contractor paint the trim with the color of our choosing? Has anyone out there had this dilemma? What would you do in our situation? (Or maybe you like the bright white trim??)

Btw... We still need to have trim where the tile meets the paint. (I forgot about that when getting the tile).

Paint schluter trim?
