Anyone taken FINANCE 338: Energy Finance at GSB? Workload & grading questions
Hey all,
I’m a master’s student in engineering and very interested in taking FINANCE 338: Energy Finance at the GSB. It looks super relevant to my interests (energy, finance, and the energy transition), but I couldn’t find much online—no detailed info or past reviews.
A few questions for anyone who has taken it (or knows people who did):
- How hard is the class in practice?
- Is it more qualitative/case-based or very technical/quant-heavy?
- Roughly how many hours per week did you spend (including class, cases, and prep)? Is it like a 20+ hours/week type of class or more manageable?
- What is the GSB grading like for this class?
- How does the GSB letter grading compare to the usual A+/A/A-/B+ system?
- Is the curve harsh, or is it reasonable if you keep up with the cases and participate?
Any insights on workload, difficulty, or whether it’s a good choice for someone with an engineering background (not a finance major) would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance! 🙏
