(2007 V6 Lexus es350) Car was initially towed to shop for a misfire but of course they end up finding 1 thing that leads to another. Long story short they end up strongly advising my serpentine belt be replaced because they can physically see that it was in bad shape. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it hasn’t been replaced the whole time i’ve owned it so I let them do their thing but of course now the “pulley is seized” and that had to be replaced as well. Another $200 on top of my already insane bill of $1,100.. I said ok do it because obviously the belt cant be replaced with a bad pulley right? Well today when I go to pick up the car its already sitting in the front lot waiting for me and after paying these guys a whopping $1,500  I go out to start the car and I kid you not bro not even 30 seconds in I could hear this supposed “new” belt shredding to pieces b4 it finally snaps.. I was furioussss cus you would think that with all the money im spending there they would atleast have the audacity to test run the car after repairs but I’m not just gonna jump to conclusions & now these guys are saying that the belt snapped simply because the oil leak my car has. Its driving me crazy because I work in the hvac field and we work with similar grade belts in our field all the time so I’ve seen them in various conditions and I find it hard to believe that a little oil can do this to a new belt. Sorry for the long rant boys but I really need other opinions right now, does this look like a new belt to ya’ll? & is this really possible to happen to a brand new belt like that with out even driving the car? Also that thing looks bone dry to me or am I just cooked?
