Getting back with Ex after my hsv diagnosis

Me and my partner broke up a few months ago and since then I contracted hsv. We’ve started talking again and we think we want to try to hang out and see if we end up just becoming friends or getting back together if it leads to that. What I’m worried about is letting them know that since we broke up, I ended up being with someone and using protection and still getting hsv. I’m scared that they’ll see me as disgusting and gross and be offended that I got with someone in the few months that we’ve been broken up. And I’m also worried about how they view hsv and if it’s something they would just never be with someone who has it. Ik our history helps in them already having feelings towards me so it’s hopefully not as easy for them to reject me like it would be for a stranger, but I just don’t know how to go about telling them. I feel like I’m more scared to tell my ex who might want to get back together than telling someone new who I’ve barely been on dates with. If any of yall have experience something similar I’d love to get opinions. And try to spare me absolute horror stories. You can be real with me but just don’t terrify me into thinking I’m worthless pls.
